BBRC made its first property investment in 2004 with the purchase of a large format retail shopping center in Melbourne.

Large format retail property had been largely overlooked in Australia and BBRC identified an opportunity to leverage its consumer expertise, transform centers and significantly improve performance. This eventually led to the creation of a property fund manager and ASX-listed REIT. Aventus Retail Property Group is BBRC’s only property investment.

Aventus Retail Property Fund

Aventus was founded in 2004 by Brett Blundy, with the purchase of a large format retail shopping center in Melbourne, Australia.  Brett later hired Darren Holland, and together they acquired centers and grew Aventus into Australia’s largest pure-play large format retail landlord. In 2012 Aventus was separated into a property fund manager (Aventus Property Group) and REIT (Aventus Retail Property Group), with the Aventus REIT listing on the ASX in 2015. In September 2018, Aventus Property Group was acquired by the Aventus Retail Property Group.  In June 2021, BBRC sold a 5% stake for $91m AUD, and still remains the largest shareholder in Aventus Retail Property Group. Visit the website
